Da millenni due razze di robot alieni, gli Autobots e i Decepticons, si fronteggiano in una guerra micidiale il cui trofeo finale è il futuro dell’universo.
Quando è la Terra a diventare teatro della loro battaglia finale, causa la presenza dell’Allspark, un cubo che possiede la loro fonte vitale, i perfidi Decepticons, guidati da Megatron, scoprono che l’unico ostacolo per poter raggiungere l’ambita e agognata vittoria, è costituito da Sam Witwicky, un normalissimo adolescente alle prese con i tipici problemi da teenagers, ovvero la scuola, i bulletti, gli amici, le ragazze e le automobili.
Sam, assolutamente ignaro di essere l’unico e assoluto responsabile della sopravvivenza degli esseri umani e del futuro del pianeta, a causa di un lontanissimo parente, insieme alla sua amica Mikaela, si ritroverà coinvolto in uno spaventoso braccio di ferro tra Autobots e Decepticons, in una guerra senza confini, che lo porterà a scoprire il vero significato dello storico motto di famiglia “non c’è gloria senza sacrificio”…
